FAQ

What is Wild Rise?

Wild Rise is an outdoor fitness and wellness community based near Cardiff.
We combine strength training, trail running, and outdoor conditioning to help people build resilience, connection, and real-world fitness — all outside the gym.

Do I need to be fit to join?

Not at all! Every session is scalable. Whether you’re returning to fitness or already training regularly, our coaches tailor movements and pacing so you can work at your own level while progressing safely.

What kind of sessions do you run?

We offer two 8-week training blocks, each designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and train with purpose outdoors:

1️⃣ Strength + Trail Block (Full Programme)

A mix of:

• Outdoor strength & conditioning (bodyweight, functional movement, rucking, team challenges)

• Coached trail running sessions focused on technique, stamina & confidence

• Support from our coaches outside of sessions

2️⃣ Trail Running Only Block

For those who want to focus purely on running:

• Coached trail runs every week

• Technique, pacing, hills, confidence-building & progression

• Perfect for beginners and seasoned runners

Both programmes are built around community, progression, and reconnecting with nature.

Where do sessions take place?

Most sessions start from our base in Taffs Well just outside Cardiff.

We also make use of local trails, hills, and open spaces for a varied and exciting training environment.

Exact meeting points are confirmed with members each week via our WhatsApp community group.

What do I need to bring?

Bring:

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing (you will get muddy sometimes!)
  • Trail or running shoes with good grip
  • Water bottle
  • A sense of adventure 💪

What if the weather is bad?

We train in almost all conditions — it’s part of the Wild Rise experience!

Extreme weather (lightning, severe storms) may result in a reschedule or adapted session, but light rain, wind, and cold are all part of building resilience.
You've got to become comfortable training in the uncomfortable

How do I book a place?

Booking is simple — just head to our booking page, select the next 8-week block, and follow the checkout steps. Spaces are limited to keep sessions personal and focused.

Who are the coaches?

Wild Rise is led by:

  • Andy Hardy — Fitness instructor, Level 3 PT, and strength & conditioning specialist.
  • Carl Osborne — qualified run leader (LiRF) and endurance coach in training (CiRF), passionate about trail running and community fitness.

Together, they blend physical challenge with mental wellbeing in the great outdoors.

Is Wild Rise just fitness, or is there a wellbeing element too?

Both. Our ethos is that movement outdoors builds physical strength and mental clarity.

We promote team support and time in nature as key parts of wellbeing — not just workouts. you cannot have a healthy mind without a healthy body!
